wacom tablet

In february i got a wacom tablet for my birthday and its been pretty fun. I kept seeing these amazing paintings that people have done online and I've only just realized that many of them are actually done digitally. (ya, I catch on quick as an art major.) Now I can maybe one day create awesome painting digitally like them now that I have a tablet. I've been teaching myself everything so the learning process has been slow.  I've primarily been painting in photoshop.

I did this for my illustration class. I constructed the outlines on the bus using objects from nature for this Phili museum. (This was my first time trying this digital paint so don't bash it too hard)

I made these 2 yesterday and I have to admit I'm quite proud of them! I made the orange using a tutorial and then made my own apple by following the same process as my orange.

If anyone else is interested in the tutorial, its a good one for beginners

Animation: A Day in the Life

Here's my first animation I did on my own WITHOUT any partners. I took about 900 photos for this animation. And seems how these were photos and not videos I had to make my own sound with a digital recording device. And then put it all together in Final Cut Pro (which is an awesome program by the way.) They say sound is more important than the visuals in a movie and I have to admit that is a FACT. Before I added audio to this I thought it was so-so but after I added the audio, wow, it made it 10x better. If I had more time I would have created smoother transitions and reworked some of the sounds.  Either way, enjoy.

animation

I'm lovin my animation class. Its really reawakened my love for the movies. This is one of my projects I did with a class mate. We both created the visuals and audio. I don't have the actual video but its here on this site → check it out

WMMR's Cardboard Classic 2012

Preston and Steve's Day off on the slopes Cardboard Classic was fan-freakin-tastic! Why haven't I been doing this for years? For those who don't know what it is, its a competition thought up by WMMR's radio show hosts Preston and Steve using homemade cardboard sleds at Jack Frost Mountain. They can be whatever you want and building material can only be from cardboard, tape, string and glue (paint and other decorative materials ok). People with best designs and the fastest sleds win prize money. For everyone else its just a hellofa good time to spectate!
Here's the crew! Casey boy (behind pole), Kathy, Nick, Steve, Preston, and Pierre!

(colorful) green man suits

goin down

Monkey(s) riding a dog!
P&S had a monkey riding a dog in their show a few months ago

Wheels spun off at the end

People were actually in that cooler

interesting combo of characters

aztec calendar

I understand this guy had a fantastic wipe out but I missed it because a woman in front of me was blocking my view

cars was a popular theme

it even honked on the way down

cannon actually fired blanks

made it down the hill but...

fell apart at the end

I guess they didn't have cardboard seat belts. ba bum chink

If you couldn't drag/push your sled up the hill then you couldn't compete. These guys luckily pushed their 800lb helicopter up
This was one of my favs. Godzilla and gorilla were actually fighting each other while sledding down. And when their sled fell apart they were hitting each other with the broken pieces

They were also smokin

I get that its Peter Griffin but I don't understand the concept.

Something on fire hangin outside his butt with "monkey picks ass" tattoos
These guys didn't make 5 inches without wiping out

So they went down like this
"Preston and Steve's Stripper Pole Party"
These next few were the series of Cars characters that went down one after another

this one was actually smokin

R2D2 surprisingly made it to the end in one piece. We thought for sure it was going to tip

National Lampoons Vacation vehicle. I think this won 3rd place in best design

This guy got tackled by this cop. Someone had too much to drink to think it was a good idea to push around a cop.

The calendar girls sled
2nd place best design. Should have been 1st. They were from DE too.
 REPRESENT

Yes

P&S's Halloween attraction, Haunted Whore Ride sled, for those who don't know

da dum

haha, Preston's Vasectomy

at the end the guys lit Preston's balls on fire

Rocky Balboa, 1st place design

Pierre Robert!!

Pierre decided to ride the tiki hut sled
This cardboard sled was like a real bar. They were serving drinking to people who sat on the cardboard stools and they even had a flat screen TV! Which is why they didn't win because the TV wasn't an Okayed material to use for the contest.

This was the safe sled for Pierre to ride
This was the dangerous sled for Pierre to ride. I missed the end because I was so cold and so hungry, my brother and I decided to leave. We were so pissed what we missed this sled when we heard on the radio on the way home what had happened. The biggest sled was demolished on the way down and tried to take Pierre with it at the end. Luckily we have Youtube ↓

"oh the humanity"

After 2 months of building for some of these. Its trashed at the end. Whether it made it down in one piece or not. They used to make a huge bonfire with all the cardboard pieces. I guess they don't do that anymore. Too bad, that heat would have felt so good.

This really is the greatest radio show. If your not around the tristate area to listen to them live. You can always get their show as podcasts in itunes. -- Rantlers!
